We should reclaim the word (I just accidentally typed 'world' there...we should do that too!). If you haven't already read it, get Caitlain Moran's How to Be A Woman. Her 4th wave feminism is spot on (Clue: it suggests standing in front of the mirror shouting I AM A STRIDENT FEMINIST and then going down to the pub and having a bit of a laugh with your mates...who may be men).Ms Wandahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16992111233681563872noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7537992328671306743.post-7394835538812209082011-10-10T18:30:38.898+01:002011-10-10T18:30:38.898+01:00Interesting debate. I find that the term has been hijacked, by many different groups and is now perceived to be a negative attribute and that's why I'm sometimes loathe to use it. If a person supports women living as they choose (provided the choices are real, fully informed and without any external pressure) then they are a feminist...oh that and hairy legs of course ;)Vanessa@bidperfect.co.ukhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11534506452120454699noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7537992328671306743.post-38481522220722323082011-10-10T18:11:20.187+01:002011-10-10T18:11:20.187+01:00Love this post Claire. In fact, so much so that these days I don't even refer to the f word. I'm a woman. A strong, loving, passionate capable woman. I can bake a cake and command a boardroom. But most of all I am grateful for the women who went before us who ensured that we all had the chance to be who the hell we want to be. In their own ways they fought against labels, so in homage to them I'm not affixing any label to this Vix.vegemitevixhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08499944412217904302noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7537992328671306743.post-53127289740274233992011-10-10T17:36:49.230+01:002011-10-10T17:36:49.230+01:00This is a really interesting post. Feminists can (amongst other things) have sex with men, enjoy baking, go to church, watch porn, and wear lipstick. Anyone who says that there are rules which involve anything other than "not treating someone differently simply because of their gender" is, quite frankly, talking out of their arse.

I went through a phase of not calling myself a feminist because I had started to believe all the people who told me I wasn't. Then I realised that, by giving in to the angry cliched feminists, I was simply perpetuating feminism's bad reputation. Surely no one can tell us that we're a feminist or not? We can only decide that for ourselves.lipsticklorihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01509292962165806049noreply@blogger.com
